Artspace invites the public to a 10th anniversary celebration of the Artspace Franklin Arts Center (1001 Kingwood St., Brainderd, MN 56401), a former junior high school that Artspace transformed into a mixed-use arts hub. The lively arts community located in the building is collectively hosting this community event, underwritten by Brutger Equities, Inc., from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9. Free and open to the public, guests can tour several artist live/work studios, shop for local arts and crafts, view an exhibition at the on-site community gallery, and see live performances.

Artspace Projects announced today $150,000 in capital grant awards from the HRK Foundation, in support of the Oglala Lakota Artspace building on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. An LLC partnership among First Peoples Fund, Lakota Funds, and Artspace will develop the Oglala Lakota Artspace, creating space for Native artists to work and showcase their art within the Pine Ridge Reservation. HRK capital is provided from both the HRK and MAHADH Funds; with the latter made in memory of HRK trustee Martha Hulings Kaemmer.
