The Northrup King Building is home to over 350 tenants, including artist studios, creative small businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Originally built in 1917 by the Northrup King & Co. seed company, this complex includes 10 buildings across 13 acres. Its location adjoining two sets of railroad tracks made it the ideal place to ship seeds across the United States. Northrup King & Co. occupied the building until the late 1980s when it was sold to private owners. Artspace purchased the building from its longtime owner, Shamrock Properties, in 2019. The purchase agreement advanced in partnership with Intermedia Arts, which provided grant funding in support of the acquisition.
