Nerissa Street is an award-winning storyteller and social entrepreneur. An expert at storytelling for community transformation, she’s been featured on NPR, in the Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel, New Times (Miami-Dade and Broward) and the South Florida Times, and in many online blogs. She has presented her transformative storytelling to audiences including those at TEDxMiami, Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, the Urban League of Broward County, Broward County Cultural Division, Edna Manley College, Human Services Coalition, Universal Foundation for Better Living, Images and Voices of Hope, and the Women’s Media Center. She’s served on the boards of the New Leaders Council (Broward chapter), the Universal Truth Center, and the Urban League of Broward County’s Young Professionals Network. In 2015, she was one of only four teaching artists in the state of Florida awarded a one-month residency at the Hermitage Artist Retreat.
Nerissa is also an expert at the written word. She has crafted several successful multi-million dollar responses to RFPs for her corporate clients as well as winning grant proposals for herself, and for her community based clients. Recently, her theatre students performed scenes for Cameron Diaz, and then mounted a production of Shrek Jr The Musical at the Broward Center. They were all under the age of 12.
