The $11.8 million Artspace Hamilton Lofts project has been through a few delays, but people behind the project believe the full impact of the project will be realized in due time.
Recognizing the impact artists have on the state's economy, the state of Colorado is planning to invest in nine affordable housing projects around the state in the coming years to make it easier for members of the creative industry to find a place to live.
A long-planned project to convert the former Andrew J. Bell Junior High School in Treme into a mixed-use arts development is finally starting to take shape.
"Our arts and historic district dialogue is an on–going conversation about what are ways that we can enhance, highlight, and celebrate this area that contains many of Mankato's cultural and historical assets," said Megan Flanagan, City Center Partnership Director.
City Center Partnership Director Megan Flanagan said a committee of the downtown business organization is exploring the question: “Would the businesses and organizations of City Center Mankato benefit from arts and historic district enhancements, what initiatives are achievable, and is the time right to pursue this?”
“What’s happening in downtown is part of a normal real estate cycle, where following a recession there is recovery and expansion. By encouraging adaptive reuse, increased density and mixed-use developments, we have cultivated vitality in our urban core that was much needed."
