The DC Youth Orchestra Program is Washington, DC’s only preK-12 program that makes high quality, ensemble-based music education available to all students regardless of existing skill or ability to pay. DCYOP’s mission is to empower young people to transform their lives through music and community, and it believes that: *All young people should have access to the transformative power of music education *Excellence is fostered through diversity, inclusion, and community *Students are supported in their personal journeys by meeting them where they are *Youth orchestras can model change and shape the future of the orchestral music world
The DC Youth Orchestra Program seeks to embark on a journey to establish a headquarters where all programming and administrative enterprises will take place. This will enable the program to grow on its own terms and empower its staff to make decisions in the best interest of our students’ musical learning.
