Artspace Creates Arts Campus Around Northrup King Building

Artspace Creates Arts Campus Around Northrup King Building

While commonly referred to as 1 space, NKB is comprised of 6 interconnected buildings that span 4 floors across 738,074 square feet. Imagine 2,050 football fields of space! About half of this is filled with studios and galleries for 350+ artists—and since Dec. 2019, when Artspace began to manage the existing NKB, BIPOC representation has increased from 4% to 21% of available square feet. Vacant space across the 13-acre campus is currently under construction.

The new Artspace NKB Lofts broke ground in Oct. 2024 and will add 84 affordable new live/work units; as well as 8,000 SF of creative commercial space and 10,000 square feet of creative industrial space. Artspace’s marketing strategies include multilingual materials in English, Spanish, and Somali. We look forward to continuing to sustain a thriving community of hundreds of artists, while adding even more arts activities on the campus—as well as native plantings, a children’s playground, connected bike trails, watershed management systems, and more!
