Artspace staff and artists have been rolling up their sleeves and doing the work to make sure the arts remain a valued priority in the communities in which they work and live.
In February, a handful of Artspace staff took the day to head to the Minnesota State Capitol for Arts Advocacy Day. The day, initiated by MN Citizens for the Arts, was attended by more than 1,000 artists, non-profit leaders, administrators, and others who love, and appreciate the arts. Artspace staff talked to local senators to ask them to protect Minnesota State Legacy funds: funding that has been allotted for arts and clean water preservation since the Legacy Amendment Act in 2008. In Memphis, artists from the South Main Artspace Lofts were galvanized via a letter writing campaign expressing support for the NEA. Read article here.
